WOW! More New Treasures!!!!!

Every time I think the artisans that consign in my shop can't get any better they not only exceed "the bar" they blow it away!!!
I have to say we handle some of the best hand crafted items in our area!
Currently we handle merchandise for 16 local craftsmen
and women that range in age from 29 to 67 years old!!

I have tried to take some pictures of new items but some just don't to the items justice. You have to see them and touch them to really appreciate them!

This awesome hand pieced and hand quilted runner depicts a saltbox house in the center and it is awesome! Its longer than the craftswoman Amy, who made it is tall! Just beautiful!!!! Below is a closeup of the center.

The neat little table below by Darrell was made from a repurposed door and spindles from a vintage baby bed. If I had room for it in my home it would already be gone! Next to it you can barely see part of a 4 ft grapevine tree hand crafted locally too. We just got a shipment of them and only 2 remain!

A hint of the view looking in the shop from outside.....

This two story bird house is an original made by our youngest consigner Jennifer.......

This one too was made by our youngest consigner.....

Sweet arrangement Terry made on an old window won't be in the shop long...

Four different samplers handcrafted locally were brought in today,
one of them is shown below.... I looove Tammy's samplers....

Chenille corn on the cob... there will be more.....

This amazing primitive step back cabinet was brought in today.
It was hand crafted by Jennifer our youngest artisan!
You have to see her work!

This vintage rocker is also a recent arrival from Darrell, tooo cute...

This little primitive table is a vintage find!!!

This primitive cabinet with its chicken wire doors made by Darrell would make
an awesome place to display quilts or linens!

This marriage piece by Darrell below is awesome.
It was constructed from a couple pieces of vintage furniture then primmed out!
Neat!

This sweet lil chair for your primitive doll or to hold your plant arrived in our shop literally in pieces... happily it has been granted a new life....

These are some of our newest arrivals and more consigners are due to bring their newest items in tomorrow! Don't wait... stop in soon to see these and many many other beautifully crafted pieces.

We are blessed with artisans who we can also call friends!

Exploring My Artistic Side

I love my camera... it lets me use my artistic side with just the squeeze of a shutter button and without ever opening a tube of paint or dirtying a paint brush. And if the finished photo isn't a masterpiece I can always delete it with no waste....

Today the hubs and I spent the day at his sisters beautiful farm and I snapped a ton of pictures. I then came home and downloaded them to a software program where I can tweak and change them up a bit...
See what you think of my artistic attempts below.....I feel good about them but I don't think Monet has any competition just yet...

These two canvas director chairs just needed the lighting changed on them...

Couldn't help but snap these clematis and bring the purple up a notch...

These two adirondack chairs on a stone porch and the view beyond just got some lighting changes and some cropping...

The horse above is a picture of a picture with the film grain revved way up.... you can see the cameras reflection if you look close enough...

This cat is surrounded by so many textures that I just lined up at the right angles and then cropped him a bit and let the textures speak for themselves....

This vignette was already composed on the foot of the guest bed.....perfect...

These awesome rocks I simply kicked up the color saturation on....

These two rockers are my favs!!!
I changed the color to sepia and snapped the picture through the porch screen to give it a really misty feel...

Just a bit of my artistic side exposed.... hope you enjoyed it!

Ahh the New Heartbreak Along with the New Treasures....

This past week was a good and sad one in the shop. Good because of all the wonderful new friends we made and sad because we lost a friend. J.L. Toney lost his battle with mesothelioma this past week and he leaves behind his wonderful family, Luann, Lesley & Thomas and Hannah and a host of other family members and friends.
We cried along with them and we mourn their loss.

The wreath below was made in the shop by Terry for J.L. commissioned by their great friends "The Girls" and it now hangs in Luann's house.
We are humbled and thrilled that they allowed us to be a small part of that outpouring of love.

Heaven has gained another great man this past week!

Below is Terry's beachy decorated mantelpiece. We love it!

Below is a sweet little primitive mustard side board.
It just arrived and went on the shop floor yesterday, speculations are that it won't last through the weekend.

This beachy sign by Tina is spectacular and I cant wait till some of our beachy decor loving friends see it!
Tina brought us some beautiful framed pictures she shot at the beach while on vacation, light houses, see shells, the Inn at Rodanthe...ahhh...

One of our dear friends Ellen decorates in French Country and commissions items from time to time. All the pieces below were painted by Tina and are hers......

This painted window is awesome...it contains Ellen's children's names...marvelous....

This sweet vintage chair arrived this last week...awesome...

This sofa table built by Scott is amazing!!!!

Crackle finished bench below is awesome....

This sink cabinet below is crackle finished and just to awesome for words...

Here is a close-up.....

Kitty below with Crow was made by Mitzi....

YUMMO Local Diner Rocks!!!!

Have to share a quick note with you about a local restaurant I tried for the first time tonight. This little local place is called the Buffalo Diner. Its on Rt. 62 in Buffalo, WV across from the high school. Its located in a converted convenience store/gas station. Their official address is 3216 Buffalo Road.

I just want to start out by saying that this evening I enjoyed one of the best racks of ribs there that I have ever eaten. They were to die for!!!! The texture and the balance of smoky and sweet was perfect! My sister had the honey garlic boneless chicken and she was equally as pleased!!!!

We followed this meal up with desert. I had carrot cake and she had chocolate cake...very soft texture, and very moist. Was told by personable young man at the register that the owners wife made the cakes.

We met the executive chef/owner Bill Desimone, he personally went from table to table making sure everyone was satisfied with the quality of their food... satisfied is an understatement! Bill even brought samples to our table of a smokey spicy cold shrimp... ummm also yummy!!!

Anyone who travels through this area should stop in and try their food!!! Today they had rainbow trout on the menu, fresh rainbow trout!!!! Wow!

If you would like to inquire about the restaurant or the catering they do email Bill at buffalo.diner@yahoo.com. I know we will return over and over again and we will check out their catering for any event we may have in the future!!!

I saw these window style greenhouses in Amish Country and happily we have an artisan now creating them for us!

Sweet primitive signs...

Love these star ornies!

Stacked shaker style boxes...

One above and one below are examples of several tiny hand painted stools...

On a personal note-

Please say a prayer for the J.L. Toney family. J. L. ,as I have mentioned in past blogs, was diagnosed about a year ago with mesothelioma. He is now in the final stages and hospice has been called in. Please pray for his wife Lu Ann and daughters Leslie and Hannah. They need to feel all the love we can wrap around them right now... thanks so much.
