Jenn's Hutch and Smiles in Shopville

These pics are of Jenn's special order hutch getting its finishing touches today!

Terry primmed and painted and sanded and poly'ed... and primmed and painted and sanded and poly'ed ......and she was working in very tight quarters too in the office!!!

And I have to say this hutch is just flipping awesome!!! It was the best job we have done yet!

In fact its so awesome we wanna keep it!

So Jen....you wanna just leave it for us maybe???? Please?????? :) Ok ok you can pick it up tomorrow, but bring muscle its a beast!!!!

Today was such a nice Saturday in the shop! So many good friends and regular customers were in that at times we needed more room just for the sheer number of folks inside!
Kathy and Jason came in and he was buying her some Christmas goodies!!!! What lucky people they both are to have each other! And what a cute couple they make! Ronnie came in to pick up his wife's gifts we had hid back for her too! I love Christmas!!!!!!
Pam and her family were in and she always makes us smile with her infectious laugh!
Drew and Lisa both helped us today and we sure laughed a lot and ate a ton of Chinese for lunch and just had a grand day!
There were a lot of new customers in as well today and they all seemed glad they ventured in to see us! I'm sure some of them will return again and again!
We cant wait to see you in the shop too! Stop in soon!

Old Friends and New Consignment/Deliverys

Ok ok... so today was sooo much fun it was like reunion day for me! An old friend from way back Ron stopped by this morning, sure was nice to see his face.

Then Tina came by with some more goodies she has hand painted! We are sooo lucky to have her not only as a featured consigner but as a friend!

Then Jack and Lisa and even more friends came by to say hey! What a nice day it was!!!!

I took a few snapshots of new items, check these out!

This adorable snow folk came in today, painted by Tina its entitled "Snow Moon".

This little horse drawn buggy is only one of two that have arrived recently.. Too cute...

More double wick rusty tin star lid candles in Buttered Maple Syrup scent have arrived...yummo.....

We currently have two copper star wall clocks in stock, and they are really very nice. Would make nice holiday gifts I think! hmmm......

One of Tina's Fall pelt boards.....very nice...

Another one of Tina's Fall pelt boards....

One of Terry's handcrafted holiday table centerpieces.....

This hand painted canvas snow folk is one of the pieces Tina worked on during her demo at our recent open house.... its displayed on a hand crafted quilted top stool by Nancy, one of our Tamarack crafts people....

More wonderful lumpy tapers just arrived in scents such as gingerspice, banana nut, bayberry, cranberry, french vanilla and more....mmmmmmmm...just unwrapping them made me smile...... We currently have them displayed on two antique boot dryer racks installed on the wall near our check out for ease of access by all....

Tina brought us this unique hand painted chair today. It has a sunflower motif and its already getting second looks! Wont be there long!

These are just a few of our new items and there are several more shipments due in the coming days, don't miss out, plan to stop in soon!

New Smell Goods and Stuff

Today we received three, count them three new shipments of goodies!!!!

Some yummy smell goods, many scents of lumpy tapers, new square clove scented candles, buttered popcorn scent candles, gingerbread cookie scent candles, new double wick candles with cute labels, all kinds of refresher oils, (yep even gingerbread cookie and nutmeg & cream chutney...there I've said it, let the rush begin...:)) scented tea lights, car air fresheners, even snickerdoodle and so much more......Just opening the boxes smelled heavenly!!

And did I mention the new issue of Country Sampler came in today also???? :) And did I mention two big holiday orders are still to arrive???? Trees, ornaments, stockings, tree skirts and sooooooo much more!!!! ;)

My sis and I also worked most of the day painting and primming a really nice three door hutch that Jen has ordered. We hope to have it ready for her to pick up by tomorrow evening or saturday morning! :) Jen we hope you love it, we are doing our best on it!

We also painted and primmed a neat hand crafted trash bin today for another one of our fav customers Judy. She was able to pick it up before we closed this evening. Its a special Christmas gift for someone in her family!

We had several calls from husbands trying to order or pick out the right holiday gift today which are always fun! They try to sneak in unseen and pick up items and disappear before they get caught by their Mrs's......One popped in and had us to hold a couple things for him to pick up this weekend for his special lady!

I loooove this time of year! All the people trying to pick just the right thing and being able to help them do it and then keeping the holiday secrets.... what fun!!!!

We had our fav sales guy Jack stop by and visit with us today! He is always a bright spot in the day, always! What a nice guy and good friend he is!

We had a huge table arrangement picked up this evening. It was special ordered for Thanksgiving to grace a 9 ft table for a family gathering of 45 people. The arrangement was beautiful and Terry as usual did an awesome job! The family was pleased when they came to get it! I am sure they will enjoy it!

Hard to believe Thanksgiving isnt far away....which means our HUGE BLACK FRIDAY SALE must be coming soon....hmmmmmmmm more details will be available soon, but only to those who are on the email mailing list.....send your email to countrygatheringsdeb@yahoo.com so you wont miss out!!!

Hope to see you in the shop soon, more pictures will be posted soon also!

That Little Penny in the Parking Lot

Remember this every time you pass that little penny in the parking lot.
I always thought that it was for good luck, but I really love this version better.

I found a penny today laying on the ground.
But it's not just a penny, this little coin I've found.

Found pennies come from heaven, that's what my Grandpa told me.
He said Angels toss them down.
Oh, how I loved that story.

He said when an Angel misses you, they toss a penny down;
Sometimes just to cheer you up, to make a smile out of your frown.

So, don't pass by that penny when you're feeling blue.
It may be a penny from heaven that an Angel's tossed to you.

Returning to the Nest to Regroup

Sis and I at a WV Power baseball game a year ago. She was recovering from an auto accident at the time.

Sis several years ago sneaking lunch with her Pops and I at work.

One of her senior pictures from high school, WOW! Seems like yesterday......not 6.5 years ago...

More recent....

Playing for her brothers wedding several years ago...

Just being her kooky wonderful spontaneous self recently......

Working now for an auto parts place as delivery driver.....

Playing in the trees at Hawks Nest state park in 05....

Sis & Me in our old house in the kitchen playing.....

Today we helped our 24 year old daughter move back home. She had been living on her own since college and has recently decided rather than live with a roommate not so happily in a shared space, to move back home, save some money and hopefully move out into her own solo space. Sounded very logical to us so we helped her pack and move back home.

I know its hard for her to move back home after living so independently on her own but we are very glad she is back.

Its nice to hear her voice down the hall talking to one of our cats that has adopted the foot of her bed, to see her face at the dinner table this evening enjoying mama's home cooking and even see her smelly laundry piled up now in the laundry room.

Seems like only yesterday she was a child, now a grown woman with her own ideas, goals and life....amazing how time flies!!!!

Don't know how long she will be living with us, but I for one am glad she is home......

Welcome back MJ ....welcome back.......

Love,

Mom

Newest Consigner- Primitive Furniture Reproductions Locally Made

The following pics are ones I took today of some newly arrived handcrafted primitive furniture reproductions from one of our newest consigners, Jerry from Cross Lanes.

The finishes on these pieces are so well done I have already had customers who think they are actually old and not new reproductions.

Take a look at these then stop in and run your hand along the finish, you won't believe they aren't old. I bet you will want to add at least one of them to your home decor!

This whitewashed bin is currently holding some large Georgia pine cones, but it would make an awesome container for just about any collection you have.

This red primmed corner cabinet has a wonderful finish. The patina on it could be very convincing to make it hard to decide whether it were old or reproduction.

Here you can see a close up of the finish on the doors including their vintage spoon door handles.

The size of this cabinet and the fact that it was made in two separate pieces makes it a very useful cabinet for anyone's space.
The finish makes it look at those it just came from Gramma's attic.

This small red cabinet with prim finish is another wonderful example of Jerry's craftsmanship and attention to detail!

This table and four chairs just arrived also from Jerry. It has an excellent finish, its sturdy made and the chairs have wide deep seats just perfect for comfortable seating. It would make a perfect game table for your prim Gathering Room.

Here is a closeup of the finish on one of the four chair seats!

There are more newly consigned items made by Jerry currently in the shop. Stop by and see them and all our other hand crafted items soon!

See you soon,
Deb
